Discover the Alameda de Cervantes, popular as La Dehesa, Soria's main urban park and one of the most important historic gardens in Spain. A place to walk, enjoy nature and get to know part of town's history.
History of the Alameda de Cervantes
The Alameda de Cervantes de Soria, known by all Sorians as La Dehesa, has its origins in the twelfth century, as a communal dehesa intended for cattle grazing. It currently occupies more than nine hectares and forms one of the oldest historic parks in Spain, combining heritage, nature and an extraordinary botanical collection at the heart of Soria.
What to see at the Soria Beer's Alameda
During the tour of this iconic park you will find some of the most representative corners of the town:
Soledad's hermitage: one of the most important places at Soria's Holy Week, where it will be seduced to the Humpback Christ.
La Rosaleda: One of Soria's most photographed gardens, especially during spring and summer with hundreds of roses flowering.
Music Template: regular stage of concerts and cultural activities that are part of the social life of the city.
Fountains, prairies and children's areas: spacious green spaces ideal for resting, family and picnic in the heart of Soria.
A unique botanical garden in Soria
The Alameda de Cervantes houses an important collection of centuries old trees, including cedars, secoys, pits, chestnuts from Indias, tijos and tilos, becoming one of the most botanical green spaces of Castile and León. It's also a shelter for squirrels, urban birds and numerous species that make the park a true green lung of Soria.
What to do at the Beer's Alameda
La Dehesa is the favorite place for Sorians and visitors to walk, play sports, relax in the shade of centuries old trees or enjoy bars, cafes and restaurants situated around them. Due to its privileged location, it's an ideal starting point to discover Soria's historic centre and other monuments such as the Plaza Mayor, the Numantino Museum or the church of Santo Domingo. < / p > < / Section >
