The Uxama Mirador is located at the centre of the old Ixama Argaela archaeological site. It's an obligatory stop point for those who wish to understand the historic evolution of the area, from the Areban and Roman roots to the medieval splendor of the Burgo.
What do you see from the Viewer?
The panoramic from this point of view is one of the most complete of the province, allowing to see the most important milestones of the villa:
The Cathedral Tower: The Baroque Silhouette of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Asunción dominates the urban profile and serves as an absolute visual reference.
The castle of Osma: Located at the opposite hill, separated by the Hoz of the Uno River, we appreciate the remains of this medieval fortress that controlled the strategic passage during the Reconquist.
Caserio de Osma and El Burgo: The duality between the oldest core (Osma) and the walled Episcopal villa (El Burgo) is observed.
Natural Environment: The views extend through the valley of rivers Uno and Abion as well as the karctic relief that prelights the nearby Canyon of the Lobos River.
The Uxama Argaela Iscape
The viewpoint is integrated into the archaeological area of Uxama, a town that was key to resistance against Rome. Visitors can complete their views by exploring their nearby remains:
Islamic Atalaya: A monitoring tower from the 10th century that can be uploaded to get an even higher light.
Roman Cisternas: Stunning underground water deposits are preserved, some of them can be visited and show the hydraulics of the time.
Casa de & quot; Los Plintos & quot;: A first-century old Roman domus that preserves much of its original plant and structure.
Access and Recommendations
Access to the viewpoint is simple and designed for passing traveller:
Location: Located at km 216 of N-122 (Valladolid-Soria crossing), at the entrance to the town from Valladolid. It has an appropriate area for car parking.
Archaeological hall: Located just at the entrance to the site, it's highly advisable to visit earlier to understand the model and the historic importance of what will be contemplated.
Best Moment: The dusk's ideal as light lights up the ocre tones of the cathedral's stone and the castle walls. < / p > < / Section >
