Considered as one of the best preserved medieval villas in Spain and throughout Europe, this segovian jewel is a living museum. When crossing his only entrance path, the imposing Puerta de la Villa, the visitor experiences an immediate temporary breakup, receding to the 16th century between stone walls and an overwhelming silence that only breaks with the pounding of the bells.
Its pitted streets and hygal houses, embellished with heraldic shields from old Spanish nobility, inevitably lead to its imposing castle. That fortress was not only a defensive beacon but an artistic haven: the painter Ignacio Zuloaga had acquired it in 1926 to put his studio there, leaving a cultural legacy that still breathes among his almenas.
The villa is famously known for the "Concerto de las Velas." During the first two Saturdays of July, the electrical light completely goes out to give way to light more than 60,000 candles. This magic atmosphere, accompanied by classical music at the Plaza Mayor, makes Pedrace an oniric stage that attracts travellers from every corner of the planet.
Beyond the stones:
• Natural Cinema plate: Due to its conservation status, Pedrace has been the stage of numerous films and series (such as & quot; 30 Coins & quot; or & quot; Isabel & quot;). To get lost by his alleyways is to walk through a real décor that has fascinated directors from around the world.
• Gastronomic Tradition: The village cannot be visited without tasting the dairy lamb roasted in wood oven, the star plate of the area, with crispy skin and tender flesh as the seal of segovian stoves.
• La Járcel de la Villa: Just as you come into town, you can visit the old medieval prison, where the original dungeons and strains are preserved, offering a raw and fascinating vision of justice in the 13th century.
Extra advice: If you are looking for the perfect photo, wait at dusk from the viewpoint near the castle. You will see how the sun baits the limestone with golden tones, reminding you why Pedrace was declared a historic set in 1951. < / p > < / Section >
