A centuries-old beech forest ideal for hiking and photo routes in autumn. < / p > < / Section > < Section > < h3 > What to See < / h3 > < p > Hayedo de la Pedrosa: The last golden South Refuge. Located at the segovian slopes of Sierra de Ayllón, this forest is an authentic botanical relic. With an extension of 87 hectares, it holds the title of being one of the most southern hectares of the world. He's a survival from after-glacial ages and has been able to resist the Castile sun with its direction and moisture trapped at the port of Quesera, creating an almost magical microclimate.
In the fall, the forest experiences a chromatic metamorphosis that appears to have been extracted from a fantasy tale and transformed into an ocre, red and golden color explosion. Unlike other nearby beehives with apace restrictions, this is free access, enabling them to walk among their centuries-old beehives of twisted logs, discover clumped rocks of lichenes and enjoy the purity of mountain air without prior reserve.
What you have to know for your adventure:
• A unique ecosystem: The beesas of the Pedrosa have capricious and less high forms than those of the north because of the hardness of the ground and the wind of the saw. It's not only a place of worship for photographers, but a sanctuary where there's an amazing variety of mushrooms (and they have to be seen).
• Vises of vertigo: When situated on a high slope, the hayedo offers a unique vertical perspective. From the upper part, next to the Puerto de la Quesera road, you can see the contrast between the dense canopy of leaves and Riocorro Riaza's embasse at the bottom of the valley.
• Rojo and Negra peoples route: The visit to the hayedo is a perfect excuse to get to know the nearby peoples as Riaza or the famous Red peoples (as Miriguera), whose constructions in clay and stone have been closely intertwined with their own autumn forest.
A sign of advice: Wear shoes with good grip as the ground is usually covered with a leaf carpet that, though precious, can be very slippery if there's moisture. The best light to photo the forest is during the first few hours of the morning, as the fog usually gets caught between branches. < / p > < / Section >
