Its Plaza Mayor, its palaces and the charm of its reddish streets await you. < / p > < / Section > < Section > < h3 > What to See < / h3 > < p > Wand: The Roozy and Stone Lordship at the intersection of Castile. A historic and artistic ensemble, this medieval villa rises with its height at the north-eastern end of Segovia. What first captivates the traveller is his clear architecture with reddish tones, as a result of his use of local clayish stone that endows his people with a unique visual warmth, especially as the sun lays on his roofs. To cross the Arco de la Villa is to get into an enclosure where time appears to have stopped in an absolute peace. His heart beats at the Porticada Plaza Mayor, one of the most beautiful and true in the region, presided by the town hall and flanked by the Church of San Miguel. The story of Ayllon is a chronicle of power and nobility and through its streets have passed figures of the size of the Catholic Kings, St. Vincent Ferrer and even the Champ Cid. Today, the villa isn't only a monument itself but serves as an ideal strategic basis to venture into the fascinating path of the Red and Black peoples of Sierra de Ayllón. What makes Ayllón unforgettable: • La Torre de la Martina: Located at the top of the hill that dominates the village, it's the last vestige of its old castle. From his feet, you get the best panoramic of Ayllon and you can appreciate how the medieval design of the town perfectly suits the ground. • Palaces of Noble Cuna: Strolling through its streets you will discover the Palace of the Vellosillo or Casa del Ávila, testimonies of the splendor that reached the villa as headquarters of important nobility families and historic events. • Ayllón Medieval: Each last weekend of July, the villa celebrates one of the most rigorous historic recreation parties in Spain. The whole town becomes transformed, the electrical light disappears and the medieval market fills with every corner. A gastronomic advice: Don't leave without trying out wood baked roast at some of his traditional restaurants. The combination of Red Stone architecture and the taste of the segovian lamb is the secret to understanding the soul of this region. < / p > < / Section >
